What is tallow?

To put it simply, tallow is beef fat. However, there are some differences between simple beef fat and tallow. What you see above is beef suet. Suet is the crumbly fat that is around the kidneys and has a high melting point. Beef “fat” is usually called muscle fat. Basically, we are cooking down beef fat into tallow, which is melted fat.
Tallow skin care is becoming very popular as people try to get away from chemical filled products so widely available on the market. Tallow is full of antioxidants, and it’s antimicrobial, anti inflammatory, and conditions the skin. Coupled with our goat milk, you just can’t go wrong.

Why Goat Milk Soap?

Our goat milk comes from our goat herd that lives in the backyard on our homestead. Our homestead goats are sweet, well loved, and they live a great life in the woods eating forage and quality hay. They enjoy a life of freedom, and they give us high quality milk.
We use this goat milk for soap, and the benefits are ample. Goat milk repairs the skin, can lighten the skin, is calming, and helps sensitive skin.
When we combine the tallow with the goat milk, it becomes a superpower soap.
Is goat milk good for your skin? OF COURSE! Goat milk soap for eczema and goat milk soap for acne has been super popular amongst our customers. They are loving how nourished their skin feels after they use our soap. Goat milk soap benefits go far beyond the skin, though.
You can learn more about how we raise goats in the woods on our YouTube channel.

How Goat Milk Soap is Made

Our goat milk tallow soap is not your ordinary soap. We don’t use any synthetics, which means Mandy has control of what goes into the soap from start to finish. She sources herbs and fruits for all of her soaps. Some of the fruits and herbs are grown on their homestead, and some of them are bought from local farmers and shops. Mandy is passionate about using only fruit, herbs, and essential oils in her soap because she herself cannot handle strong smells and does not like to introduce chemicals to her body or her family’s bodies when she can help it.
All of the “scents” added to Chapel Hill Forge Goat Milk Tallow Soap comes from the herbs, fruit, and essential oils. Mandy freeze dries or dehydrates all of the fruit. Herbs are either dehydrated or air dried. And she sources quality essential oils.
You’ll notice that the scents are not super strong, and what you smell – smells REAL. It doesn’t smell like a cheap bar of soap from a big chain store. You might enjoy scents like peppermint, oranges, or strawberries – and all of that is from real plants.
When Mandy makes soap, the process starts long before starts mixing together milk, tallow, lye and other oils. The process starts when she gets beef fat from local butchers. The process starts when she gets herbs from her garden. The process starts when she gets fruit from local orchards.
She has a hand in every single step of the process, and that’s why it’s high quality.
Mandy’s soap shop is full of jars of dried fruits and herbs just waiting to be made into amazing combinations.
