Bud is 12 and sews all of the felt magnets and ornaments for Bud’s Outfitters. His grandma of Sugar Plum Candles taught him to sew, he loved and he added sewed products to his line up.

Bud started his business when he was 7 years old. He wanted a bunny, but he wanted to pay for it himself. He gathered up all of the toys and clothes that he didn’t want, asked his aunt if he could have a yard sale at her house during their development yard sale in the spring, and he set up his belongings.
He made about $150 that day, and he had the business bug. He was ready to start working for more money. He got his bunny and supplies, and when the $150 seed money ran out, he had the idea to gather up pinecones in our yard. We have a lot of pine trees, so there were plenty of pinecones to be had.
He got his winter sled, and walked his little self all over the yard gathering up pine cones. With a sled full of pine cones and a plan, he started figuring out how to make firestarters. His very first product for Bud’s Outfitters was a pinecone firestarter. He took the pinecones he gathered in the yard, wrapped them in string, dipped them in wax and voila. He had his first product.
Since then, he has stopped offering pinecones as a regular product and makes excellent firestarters in souffle cups. These are high quality firestarters made of wood shavings and wax, and they are made solely by our young entrepreneur. To learn more about the best firestarters on the market, read our blog here.
After making firestarters for a while, he wanted to expand his product line. He got into making PVC products, including marshmallow shooters. After PVC, came his new love for sewing. His very first sewing project was an owl, and the requests for custom animals started rolling in.
