In the summer months, the combination of goat milk and citrus in our Summer Soap offers several benefits for skin health. First, goat milk is renowned for its moisturizing properties, which can help replenish lost moisture due to sun exposure and dry air. This helps to keep the skin hydrated and supple, reducing the risk of dryness, flakiness, and irritation. Additionally, goat milk contains lactic acid, a gentle exfoliant that can help remove dead skin cells and promote a smoother, more radiant complexion.
Citrus fruits such as lemons, oranges, and limes are rich in vitamin C and antioxidants, which are particularly beneficial for sun-damaged skin. Vitamin C helps to brighten the skin, reduce the appearance of dark spots and hyperpigmentation, and protect against environmental damage caused by UV radiation. The antioxidants found in citrus fruits also help to neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and inflammation in the skin, which can accelerate aging and contribute to sunburn.
Together, the combination of goat milk and citrus provides a refreshing and rejuvenating skincare experience in the summer. The moisturizing and exfoliating properties of goat milk, combined with the brightening and antioxidant benefits of citrus fruits, help to keep the skin healthy, hydrated, and protected from the sun’s harmful rays, making it an ideal choice for summer skincare routines.

Mandy makes every bar of Summer Soap from scratch and by hand. She milks the goat. The beef fat comes from a local butcher, and she renders that down into tallow.
Each bar is carefully calculated with the right ingredients to get just the right consistency. The tallow gives the bar the awesome uneven top look when it’s poured. Is goats milk soap good for the skin? Our goat milk is nourishing itself, but the olive oil and coconut oil offer even more nourishment for your skin. Of course, the lye is necessary for saponification.
A tallow soap bar will feel different than store-bought, commercial soap. This homesteaders tallow soap will help you feel nourished. You will feel GOOD when you use this tallow skincare goat milk soap. Does goat milk soap clog pores? NO! Of course, everyone is different, but we think you’ll find this soap simply refreshing!
So when someone asks you: What is tallow soap used for? You hope you can honestly say it’s good for your WHOLE BODY! Mandy uses this on her body, face, and to shave.
Oranges, limes, and lemons offer a plethora of benefits when used on the skin, making them popular ingredients in skincare products. Firstly, these citrus fruits are rich in vitamin C, a potent antioxidant known for its ability to combat free radicals that contribute to premature aging. Vitamin C also promotes collagen production, essential for maintaining skin elasticity and firmness, resulting in a smoother and more youthful complexion. The natural acids present in citrus fruits, such as citric acid, gently exfoliate the skin, sloughing away dead cells to reveal brighter and more radiant skin underneath. This exfoliation process can help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles over time.
Secondly, the high content of citric acid in oranges, limes, and lemons contributes to their natural astringent properties. These properties help to tighten and tone the skin, reducing the appearance of enlarged pores and promoting a smoother appearance. Additionally, citrus fruits have antibacterial and antiseptic qualities, making them effective in combating acne-causing bacteria and reducing breakouts. The astringent and antibacterial properties combined make citrus fruits particularly beneficial for those with oily or acne-prone skin, helping to balance oil production and prevent future blemishes.
Lastly, the refreshing and invigorating scent of oranges, limes, and lemons uplifts the senses and provides a rejuvenating experience during skincare routines. The essential oils derived from these fruits are often used in aromatherapy for their mood-enhancing effects, promoting relaxation and reducing stress levels. Incorporating oranges, limes, and lemons into skincare not only nourishes and protects the skin but also offers a revitalizing sensory experience, making them indispensable ingredients in promoting overall skin health and well-being.
Our Goat Milk Soap is full of ingredients that you can read! When you turn over that bar of commercially made soap from the grocery store, it’s usually full of words that no one can spell or say. Our soap is simple: olive oil, coconut oil, tallow, goat milk, lye.
Why do we use lye? Lye is essential for soap to actually become soap. Lye is also known as sodium hydroxide. It’s been used for centuries to make soap.
If you have questions about goat milk tallow soap, email us at chapelhillforge@gmail.com. We are fully transparent about our ingredients and the process we use to make soap because we want you to feel confident in your purchase from us.
Goat Milk Tallow Soap is the perfect addition to your daily hygiene routine. It’s gentle, smooth, and will help your skin feel hydrated and nourished. Because we don’t use synthetics, the scents will be very mild. The benefits can be medicinal, more than for scent.
